What We Do

Our Mission

To improve the athletic opportunities that children in underserved communities can get around Fairfield County in Connecticut. Sports have become very expensive as the average cost of youth sports is almost $700 per season according to the ASPEN institute. The sheer cost of youth sports essentially shuts out lower class children for upper class families who can afford the high costs. Sports are supposed to not take social status and wealth into account, however that is not happening as shown by the high costs of sports.Sports For Good focuses on encouraging younger kids to play sports as it provides chances to bond with other children and create lifelong memories and friendships. We do this by providing the necessities for these children to play sports by giving local boys and girls clubs lightly used equipment. By providing equipment for the young children, we alleviate a lot of the financial burden that families would need to spend to keep their children in sports. We use sports to foster the development of young children in order for them to succeed both on and off the field.

About Armaan Bhaskar

I am a rising high school senior at The Harvey School in Katonah, NY from Darien Connecticut. As a little kid, I did not enjoy sports because I did not see a point in playing them. However, I was fortunate enough for my parents to give me the opportunity to try out sports and it became successful. Ever since I got the opportunity, I realized how fun sports could be as I not only enjoyed playing them but the friendships that came along with my involvement in sports. When I picked up organized sports, I became close with several of my teammates and coaches. I learned how important teamwork was and it was then that I realized the positive impact sports can have on people’s lives. I continue to play sports to this day as I enjoy the bonding experience and the sports themselves. Since I experienced the benefits sports can have on life first hand, I decided to reward children who don’t have the privilege I did with the chance to play sports.
